Independent Schools Union appoints new CEO
The Independent Schools Education Association, the union for teachers and support staff in private schools, is pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Rattray of Auckland as its new CEO. Malcolm Walker, Acting President of ISEA says "Deborah's background in teaching and her passion for education in general will be a great asset to our organisation."
Deborah has been involved in NZ education for over 20 years, originally as an Intermediate school teacher with an interest in catering for Gifted and Talented. She has provided pre-service and in-service training for teachers since 1991 and has developed various curricula ranging from Health/PE, Social Studies, English and Learning Languages. Her most recent work involving the professional development of teachers has been as an In-School Facilitator with the University of Auckland for the TPDL programme (Teacher Professional Development in Languages) and as a Facilitator for the Chinese Language Foundation and Confucius Institute Joint Venture for Programmes in NZ Schools.
Deborah is a registered teacher. She has taught in independent schools and is an independent school parent.
"We are very fortunate indeed to be able to appoint a person of the calibre of Deborah", adds Mr Walker.
Ms Rattray takes over this month from the former CEO Dr Grant Gillon who has taken up a position at AUT.
